Welcome to Sacred Heart Catholic Church located in the downtown section of Atlanta, Georgia.
Sacred Heart Church is the oldest still standing Catholic building in the Atlanta metropolitan area and it is the only one with two spires. Its architecture is very similar to the one of an abbey church (Chiaravalle della Colomba) located near the town of Fidenza in central Italy.
We are a vibrant institution with a diverse congregation formed of members from many socio-economic levels, ethnic groups and life styles.We are proud of it.
We are solidly based on Catholic beliefs and tradition while we strive to be aware of the spiritual needs and sensitivities of the various groups that are part of the parish. We are constantly fine-tuning our liturgical practices, our activities and our programs to meet this goal.
We are also helping people who are suffering because of poverty or temporary financial problems. We have a sizable group of parishioners who dedicated themselves to this ministry. We finance these efforts with about 30% of our income.
Our schedule of masses and of the sacrament of penance is particularly set up to facilitate the participation not only of parishioners as well as of the guests of the nearby hotels and people who work in the downtown area.
